Removal and Installation

Removal

WARNING:
WARNING:The supplemental restraint system (SRS) is active for a certain length of time after the power supply has been disconnected. Wait for a minimum of 3 minutes before disconnecting or removing any SRS components.
WARNING:
WARNING:Make sure that the vehicle electrical system is fully depowered and no other power source is connected.
WARNING:
WARNING:Refer to 100-00
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not try to remove the steering wheel by hitting the shaft with a hammer. The column will collapse.
    Remove the components in the following order.
    1. Lower panel.
      For additional information, refer to: Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).
    1. Horn cap.
    1. Air bag module.
      For additional information, refer to: Driver Air Bag Module (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).
    1. Locknut.
    1. Steering wheel.
      • 1. Set the vehicle in the straight-ahead position.

        2. Remove the steering wheel using a suitable puller.

Installation

  1. Make sure the wheels in the straight-ahead position, and install the steering wheel.
