Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
  1. Discharge the refrigerant from the system.
    For additional information, refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging (412-00 Climate Control System - General Information, General Procedures).
  1. Remove the glove compartment.
    For additional information, refer to: Glove Compartment (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).

  1. Disconnect the air intake wire from the blower motor assembly.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not allow compressor oil to spill.
    Remove the evaporator core housing pipes.
    1. Cooler hose (LO).
    1. Cooler pipe.

  1. Cooling unit.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Apply compressor oil to the O-rings.
    Install in the reverse order of removal.
  1. When installing a new cooler pipe or hose, add FD46XG compressor oil into the refrigeration cycle.
    • Cooler hose (LO): 8 ml
    • Cooler hose (HI): 5 ml
    • Cooler pipe: 3 ml
  1. Perform the refrigerant system performance test.
