Removal and Installation

Removal

WARNING:
WARNING:Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module.

  1. Remove the components in the following order.
    1. Column cover.
      For additional information, refer to: Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).
    1. Steering wheel (vehicles without tilt lever).
      For additional information, refer to: Steering Wheel (211-04 Steering Column, Removal and Installation).
    1. Clockspring (vehicles without tilt lever).
      For additional information, refer to: Clockspring (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).
    1. Combination switch (vehicles without tilt lever). For additional information, refer to: (211-05 Steering Column Switches)
      Steering Column Multifunction Switch LH (Removal and Installation),
      Steering Column Multifunction Switch RH (Removal and Installation).
    1. Steering shaft (vehicles without tilt lever).
      For additional information, refer to: Steering Column (211-04 Steering Column, Removal and Installation).

  1. Pull the meter hood and remove clips A and the pins and tabs C.
  1. Remove the meter hood.

Installation

  1. Install in the reverse order of removal.
