Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Installation
With Manual Brakes

1. Bench bleed the master cylinder. Refer to Brake Bleeding.

2. Install the master cylinder assembly and retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 18-33 Nm (13-25 ft lb).
3. Loosely connect the hydraulic brake system lines to the master cylinder.
4. Secure the push rod to the brake pedal assembly using the shoulder bolt. Make sure the bushings and spacers are installed properly. Install
self-locking nut.
5. Connect the wires to the stop lamp switch.
6. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Brake Bleeding.

2. Before installing the master cylinder, check the distance from the outer end of the booster assembly push rod to the face of the brake booster
assembly. Turn the push rod adjusting screw in or out as required to obtain the specified length (see second image).
