Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair

Wheel Cylinder And Backing Plate
1. Raise vehicle and position suitable safety stands under vehicle. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove the drum, and brake shoes.
Wheel Cylinder Connecting Links
3. Remove the cylinder-to-shoe connecting links (if equipped).
4. Disconnect the brake line from the brake cylinder and plug line to prevent air from entering the system.
5. Remove the brake cylinder retaining bolts and lockwashers, and then remove the cylinder from the backing plate.
