Safety Recall 89S69 1989 Ranger and Bronco II 4X4's Front Wheel Bearing Nut Retaining Key.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1989 Ranger and Bronco II 4x4's equipped with automatic hublocks produced at the Louisville Assembly Plant from Job # 1, 1989 through April 17,
1989.
REASONS FOR RECALL
Some of these trucks may have been built without a left front wheel bearing nut retaining key.
Without a retaining key, the left front wheel bearing nut may loosen which could lead to wheel-bearing noise and possible detachment of the wheel from
the axle.
To correct, inspect for a left front wheel bearing nut retaining key and install if missing.

Affected vehicles on the enclosed list and any other eligible vehicles which are brought to your dealership.
DEALER-OWNER CONTACT
Immediately contact any owner whose name is not on the list. Give then a copy of the Owner Letter.
DISTRICT/FORD CONTACT
Advise your district office or your supervising Ford location if:

an owner cannot be comptacted
-
an owner does not make a service date.
Discuss with your Field Service Engineer any concerns you may have about this recall.
REIMBURSEMENT
Only the Ford 1864 will be accepted for reimbursement under this program. Upon completion of the required service, the Form 1864 must be completely
filled out and signed by authorized dealer personnel. Mail the second copy of the Fors 1864 for reimbursement.
It is important that all claims be filed for all completed units so that you will be reimbursed and our records will show completion.
