Ignition Cable: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
Spark Plug Wire Remover
1. When removing ignition wires from spark plugs, use Spark Plug Wire Remover T74P-6666-A. Grasp and twist the ignition wire spark plug boot
back and forth on the spark plug insulator to free the boot.
CAUTION: Do not pull on the ignition wire as it may separate from the connector inside the boot.
Removing Ignition Wires At Coil Pack
2. Disconnect the ignition wire from the ignition coil by squeezing the locking tabs and twisting while pulling upward.
CAUTION: Do not pull on the ignition wire as it may separate from the connector inside the boot.
3. Open ignition wire separators and remove ignition wire.
INSTALLATION
1. Whenever an ignition wire is removed for any reason from a spark plug or ignition coil, or a new ignition wire is installed, Silicone Dielectric
Compound D7AZ-19A331-A, Motorcraft WA-10 or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A must be applied to the ignition wire
boot prior to installation. Using a small, clean tool, coat the entire interior surface of the boot with Silicone Dielectric Compound
D7AZ-19A331-A, Motorcraft WA-10 or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A.
