Shift Solenoid: Description and Operation
Shift Solenoid (SS1, SS2, SS3)
Three on/off solenoids are used for electronically controlled shift scheduling. The three solenoids are located on the main control assembly. The
solenoids are two-way, normally open style.
Solenoids SS1, SS2, and SS3 provide gear selection of 1st through 4th by controlling the pressure of the three shift valves.
Coast Clutch Solenoid (CCS)
The coast clutch solenoid (CCS) is an on/off solenoid. The CCS is an electro-hydraulic actuator combining a solenoid and a regulating valve.
The PCM uses the coast clutch solenoid to control the apply and release of the coast clutch.
