ISSUE:
Increased effort may be required to manually cycle the door glass, or the power door glass may bind while cycling on some vehicles. This is due to the
tight fit condition between the glass run and glass combined with insufficient lubricant on the glass guide and bracket assembly.
ACTION:
Replace the glass run with a revised glass run assembly. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the window crank handle, door trim panel, mirror, inner/outer mouldings, door speaker and door polyshield. Refer to the appropriate year
Ranger Service Manual, Section 01-11, for details.
2.
Raise the window to the fully closed position. Then take a rag and thoroughly clean off any dust, debris or metal filings that may be found on the
vertical channel of the glass guide and bracket assembly (Figure 1).
3.
Once the vertical channel is cleaned, apply a small amount (8 grams) of Multi-Purpose Grease (DOAZ-19584-AA or equivalent meeting Ford
specification ESB-M1093-B) to the channel.
