Attachment III - Technical Information
1990 Ranger-4.0L Engine, Inlet Air Tube
Technical Instructions
Check, verify CARES/OASIS for affected unit.
1.
Remove snow shield from throttle body (2 screws).
2.
Disconnect crankcase vent closure hose from air inlet tube.
3.
Remove Air Inlet Tube from truck.
4.
Install new Air Inlet Tube.
5.
Measure clearance between throttle lever/idle stop screw and air inlet tube at wide open throttle (engine off). Have assistant hold accelerator pedal
at WOT - do not move linkage to WOT with hand pressure.
Minimum clearance is 2.0 mm (.078 in).
a.
if clearance is OK, connect crankcase vent closure hose and install snow shield.
b.
if clearance is less than 2.0 mm (.078 in), replace throttle body with (F07Z-9E926-A) throttle body assembly.
c.
verify 2.0 mm (.078 in) minimum clearance.
d.
same as a, above.
6.
Complete Form 1864.
7.
Scrap all removed parts.
