Crankshaft: Description and Operation
The crankshaft is supported on the bottom of the cylinder block by four steel-backed, aluminum crankshaft main bearings. To provide smooth engine
operation, the piston crankpins are positioned to provide a power impulse every 120 degrees of crankshaft rotation. This spacing provides smooth and
quiet operation. Two sprockets and a timing belt. connect the crankshaft with a camshaft and provide a 2:1 drive ratio.
