Flex Plate: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove transmission.
2. Remove flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts and remove flexplate and flywheel crankshaft spacer.

INSTALLATION
NOTE: All major rotating components including flexplate/flywheel are individually balanced to zero. Engine assembly balancing is not required.
Balance weights should NOT be installed in new flywheels.
1. Position flywheel or flywheel crankshaft spacer and flexplate on crankshaft and hand-start flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts.
NOTE: Special bolts are used for flywheel/flexplate installation. Do not use standard bolts.
2. Using standard cross-tightening sequence; tighten flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts as follows:
a. First stage 12-15 Nm (9-11 ft. lbs.).
b. Second stage 68-74 Nm (50-55 ft. lbs.).
3. Install transmission.
