Removal and Installation
Upper and lower shaft
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. CAUTION: Do not allow the steering column to rotate while the steering column shaft is disconnected or damage to the clockspring may
result. If there is evidence that the shaft has rotated, the clockspring must be removed and recentered.
Remove and discard the lower steering column shaft-to-upper steering column shaft bolt.

Collapse the lower steering column shaft.

To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
3. Remove the upper steering column shaft-to- steering column bolt and remove the upper steering column shaft.

Discard the bolt.
^
To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
Lower shaft
4. Remove the lower steering column shaft-to-steering gear bolt and remove the lower steering column shaft.

Discard the bolt.
