Heater Core: Service and Repair
Heater Core
Removal and Installation
1. NOTE: If a heater core leak is suspected, the heater core must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle.
Remove the evaporator core housing. For additional information, refer to Evaporator Core Housing See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Housing
Assembly HVAC/Service and Repair/Evaporator Core Housing.
2. Remove the instrument panel. For additional information, refer to Instrument Cluster / Carrier &/or Interior Moulding / Trim.
3. Remove the PCM. For additional information, refer to Computers and Control Systems.
4. Remove the PCM heat sink.
1. Remove the ground strap screw.
2. Remove the heat sink.
5. Remove the 4 nuts from the engine side of the dash panel. Position the plenum chamber on the vehicle floor.

To install, tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
6. Remove the heater core cover.
1. Remove the screws.
2. Remove the heater core cover.
7. Remove the heater core.
