Thermostat Housing - 4.0L SOHC

Removal and Installation

1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to the Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding - 4.0L  See: Service and

Repair/Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.

2. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

3. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.

4. Remove the coolant bypass hose.

5. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.

6. Remove the 3 bolts and the thermostat housing.

Inspect the O-ring seal. Install a new O-ring seal if necessary.

To install, tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
