Pinpoint Test H: The Stoplamps Are On Continuously

Normal Operation
When the brake pedal is applied, voltage is routed to the high mounted stoplamp and the multifunction switch. The multifunction switch then routes the
voltage to the LH and RH rear lamps. Voltage to the LH and RH rear lamps also routes through the Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuses 42 (7.5A) and 38
(7.5A) for the trailer tow lamps.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

Wiring, terminals or connectors
-
Stoplamp switch
-
Multifunction switch
PINPOINT TEST H: THE STOPLAMPS ARE ON CONTINUOUSLY

H1 CHECK THE STOPLAMP SWITCH
-
Disconnect: Stoplamp Switch C278.
-
Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate?
Yes
GO to H2 .
No
INSTALL a new stoplamp switch. REFER to Stoplamp Switch See: Brake Light Switch/Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

H2 CHECK THE RH STOP/TURN LAMP CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

Ignition OFF.
-
Disconnect: BJB Fuse 38 (7.5A).

Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate?
Yes
GO to H3.
No
REPAIR circuit CAT09 (GN) for a short to voltage. TEST the system for normal operation.

H3 CHECK THE LH STOP/TURN LAMP CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

Disconnect: BJB Fuse 42 (7.5A).

Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate?
Yes
GO to H4.
