AIR CONDITIONING - DEALER INSTALLED - DRIVE BELT ALIGNMENT - 2.0L/2.3L ENGINE
LIGHT TRUCK 1984-85 RANGER
Vehicles equipped with dealer installed air conditioning may exhibit A/C drive belt misalignment caused by an improperly installed and/or misaligned
drive pulley.
When installing the A/C drive pulley (E4TZ-6A312-A) make sure that the raised rear center section of the pulley properly engages the crankshaft drive
pulley slots to ensure an even parallel mating.
Figure 27 - Pulley Slot Adjustments
You may find the slots on some crankshaft pulleys slightly narrower or off center, preventing proper alignment. This condition can be corrected by
grinding or filing the slot to accommodate the A/C drive pulley embossments. Refer to Figure 27 for recommended correction.
Pulley alignment can be verified by measuring the distance between the two pulleys at various points and running engine to check for run out.
