Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair
Coil Spring
1. Raise and support front of vehicle. Support axle with a suitable jack so the spring is compressed.
2. Remove shock absorber to radius arm attaching bolt, then remove shock absorber from bracket.
3. Remove spring lower retainer attaching nut, then the retainer.

4. Lower axle until all spring tension is released, then remove spring by rotating upper coil out of tabs in upper spring seat, Fig. 13.
5. Remove spacer and seat from spring and the stud from axle assembly, if necessary.
NOTE:The axle must be supported when replacing spring and not be permitted to hang by the brake hose. If the length of the brake hose is not
sufficient to permit spring replacement, it will be necessary to remove the disc brake caliper. Do not suspend caliper by brake hose, if removed.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
