Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Open ashtray and remove two screws attaching ashtray and instrument cluster trim panel, then remove ashtray assembly.
3.
Unsnap cluster trim panel by pulling rearward around edge of panel, depress hazard warning switch on steering column, then remove cluster trim
panel.
4.
Remove screws attaching cluster to instrument panel.
5.
On models equipped with automatic transmission, remove two screws attaching selector indicator to cluster and slide indicator down and out of
cluster and position aside.
6.
On all models, pull cluster out from panel slightly, then disconnect speedometer cable and two electrical connectors. It may be necessary to
disconnect speedometer cable from transmission and pull cable through cowl to gain access to speedometer quick disconnect on back of
cluster.
7.
Remove cluster assembly from instrument panel.
INSTALLATION
1.
Apply an approximate 3/16 inch diameter ball of dielectric silicone D7AZ-19A331-A or equivalent, in drive hole of speedometer head.
2.
Position cluster at instrument panel, connect speedometer cable and two electrical connectors.
3.
On models with automatic transmission, insert selector indicator into cluster, and attach with two screws.
4.
On all models, install cluster into instrument panel, cluster trim panel and ashtray, then reset hazard warning switch.
5.
Connect battery ground cable, then check operation of cluster assembly gauges, lamps and turn signals.
