ISSUE:
A noticeable hesitation may occur during acceleration in the first mile (1.6 km) of driving after an initial cold start in ambient temperatures of 35°F (2°C)
and below. A long crank may be required to restart the engine. A no start condition may require fuel unloading as described in the appropriate year
Ranger Owner Guide under a "No Start" flooded condition. These conditions may be caused by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calibration.
ACTION:
Refer to the following Service Procedure to determine if a new PCM with a revised calibration is required.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Perform the diagnostic procedure in the 1993-94 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Car/Truck Service Manual. Service as
required.
2.
If the concern still exists, install a new PCM with a revised fuel calibration. Refer to the Application Chart for correct part usage.
