4X2 MODELS
1.
Raise and support front of vehicle. Support axle.
2.
Remove lower retainer nut and lower retainer, Fig. 7. Lower axle until it hangs unsupported.
3.
Insert pry bar between axles and force appropriate I-beam axle down far enough to allow spring to be lifted over bolt in lower spring seat. Rotate
spring until retainer on upper spring seat is cleared. Remove spring. The axle must be supported when replacing spring and not be permitted
to hang by the brake hose. If the length of the brake hose is not sufficient to permit spring replacement, it will be necessary to remove the
disc brake caliper. Do not suspend caliper by brake hose, if removed.
4.
Reverse procedure to install. Install bolt in axle arm and tighten nut all the way down. Install top of spring into upper spring seat and rotate into
position. Raise axle until spring is seated in lower spring upper seat. Install lower retainer and nut.
