Inspection Procedure
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1.
Put the transmission in neutral.
2.
Bring the engine speed to 3000 rpm or higher.
3.
Press the clutch pedal slowly down and up.
4.
If the audible growl is not present, try higher engine speeds and repeat Steps 1-3.
5.
Listen to see if the growl occurs.

If it doesn't occur, the noise is not controlled strictly by the clutch pedal actuation. This "fix" is not appropriate and will not solve the concern.

If it does occur, proceed with the hydraulic line replacement procedure.
1992 and Prior Models - Hydraulic Line Replacement
HYDRAULIC LINE REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE - LOWER END (SLAVE CYLINDER END)
1.
Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2.
If the vehicle is equipped with a metal clip connected to the floor flange, unclip the hydraulic line.
3.
Uncouple the lower end of the hydraulic line from the slave cylinder using Clutch Coupling Tool T88T-70522-A.
