Fuel Gauge: Testing and Inspection
To test the magnetic gauges:
1. Disconnect the connector from the appropriate sender and connect the signal wire to the Instrument Gauge System Tester.
2. Turn the vehicle ignition switch lock cylinder to the ON position.
With the sending unit float arm in the empty-stop (below E) position, the resistance should be 15 ohms. With the sending unit float arm in the full-stop
(above F) position, the resistance should be 160 ohms. The fuel gauge should read empty at 22.5 ohms, and full at 145 ohms.
