Clutch Disc: Service and Repair
Special Tools
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect the clutch master cylinder push rod from the clutch pedal.
3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
4. Remove the starter motor.
5. Use the Clutch Coupling Tool to disconnect the quick connector at the transmission.
6. Remove the transmission.
7. CAUTION: Loosen the bolts evenly to prevent clutch pressure plate damage.
NOTE: If the parts are to be reused, mark the clutch pressure plate and the flywheel.
Remove the bolts and remove the clutch pressure plate and the clutch disc.
Installation
1. CAUTION: To prevent damage do not force the adjusting ring. Additional pressure may be required on the diaphragm fingers if the
adjusting ring does not turn readily.
NOTE: Clean the clutch pressure plate and flywheel with a commercial alcohol based solvent so surfaces are free from oil film.
Do not use cleaners with a petroleum base. Do not immerse the clutch pressure plate in the solvent.
NOTE: The clutch pressure plate should always be adjusted before installation.
