LIGHT TRUCK:
1996-97 RANGER
This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to include some early built 1997 vehicles.
ISSUE:
The outside door handle may have high travel to open the door. This may be caused by the length of the door latch connecting rod.
ACTION:
Replace the door latch connecting rod. The revised rod is 3 mm longer and should reduce the amount of travel necessary to unlatch the door. Refer to the
following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the interior door panel. Refer to the procedure outlined in the 1996 Ranger Service Manual, Section 01-05A.
2.
Remove the existing door latch connecting rod and install a revised Connecting Rod (F77Z-1022152-AA). Refer to the 1996 Ranger Service
Manual, Section 01-14A. The connecting rod connects the latch assembly to the outside handle.
3.
Reinstall the interior door panel.
