Seat Latch: Service and Repair

If the front seat back latch does not pass the sensitivity test, the entire front seat back latch must be replaced. Servicing components is not acceptable and
should not be attempted.

REMOVAL 

1. Remove front seat and front seat track.
2. Disengage front seat cushion and cover as required to gain access to screws retaining front seat back frame to front seat cushion and cover.

Remove screws.

3. Disengage front seat back frame as required to gain access to nuts securing front seat back latch to seat back. Remove front seat back latch.

INSTALLATION 

1. Position front seat back latch to front seat back frame. Install two retaining nuts and tighten to 18-27 Nm (13-20 Lb-Ft).
2. Install seat back trim cover.
3. Attach screws retaining front seat back frame to front seat cushion and cover. Tighten screws to 47-63 Nm (35-46 Lb-Ft).
4. Install seat cushion trim cover.
5. Check front seat back latch for proper operation. Refer to front seat back latch sensitivity test.  See: Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and

NOTE:  After front seat back latch replacement, the front seat must be tested in accordance with the latch sensitivity test procedure prior to
installing the front seat in the vehicle.  See: Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics

6. Install seat and track assembly in vehicle.
