Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair
Hydraulic Assembly
REMOVAL
1. Remove the battery and battery tray.
2. Raise and support the vehicle on a hoist.
3. From beneath the LH front fender apron, remove the anti-lock hydraulic control unit bracket nut.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Disconnect the two anti-lock HCU electrical connector.
6. Disconnect the five HCU hydraulic connectors.
NOTE: To prevent contamination and brake fluid leakage after hydraulic tubes are disconnected, plug each tube and port.
7. Remove the HCU bracket-to-inner fender screw and stud and remove HCU.
INSTALLATION
To install, reverse the removal procedure, noting the following:

Tighten the anti-lock HCU bracket-to-inner fender screw and stud to 11-13 Nm (91-122 inch lbs.).

Tighten the anti-lock HCU bracket nut to 11-13 Nm (91-122 inch lbs.).

Tighten the hydraulic brake tube to the HCU outlet port adapter nuts to 18-27 Nm (14-19 ft. lbs.).
^
Tighten the hydraulic brake tube to HCU inlet port nuts to 14-21 Nm (11-15 ft. lbs.).
