Engine Control Module: Removal and Replacement
Powertrain Control Module
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Open hood and disconnect negative battery cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control
Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) to relearn the adaptive strategy.
2. Loosen connector to module retaining bolt and unplug connector.
3. Remove two nuts and PCM cover.
4. Remove PCM.
5. To install PCM reverse removal procedure. Tighten PCM connector to module bolt to 5-7 Nm (45-61 lb in). Tighten PCM cover nuts to 4-5.6 Nm
(36-49 lb in).
