Steering Gear: Service and Repair
Manual Steering
The steering gear is factory-filled with steering gear lubricant. Seasonal change of this lubricant should not be performed and the steering gear housing
should not be drained. No additional lubricant is required for the life of the steering gear unless leakage is noted or repairs performed.
Every 50,000 km (30,000 mi), the steering gear should be inspected for seal leakage (actual solid grease, not just oil film). If the seal is replaced or the
steering gear is overhauled, the steering gear housing should be refilled.
