Ranger 4WD V6-3.0L VIN U (1997)
4. Mark the rear axle companion flange in relation to the drive pinion stem so the flange can be reinstalled in the same position.
5. Using Differential Side Bearing Puller T77F-4220-B1 remove the rear axle companion flange.
CAUTION: Never hammer on the companion flange.
6. Pry up on metal flange of pinion seal. Install gripping pliers and strike with hammer until pinion seal is removed.
CAUTION: Care should be taken not to damage housing during pinion seal removal.
