1. Position mainshaft so that the rear end (long side of flange) faces upward. Install the following parts in the order listed:

Second gear needle bearing Second gear

Second gear synchronizer blocking ring First/second synchronizer
^
First gear synchronizer blocking ring First gear needle bearing First gear Input bearing spacer Bearing
NOTE: During installation, apply Motorcraft MERCON Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or -DDX or equivalent
MERCON fluid to all rotating or sliding parts.
