6. NOTE: Note the position of the triangular shaft extending out of the rear of the case.
Remove the remaining front bolt and the transfer case shift motor.
7. CAUTION: Use care when cleaning the RTV sealant from the aluminum surfaces, as nicks and gouges can inhibit sealing.
Clean the mating surfaces of the shift motor and the rear case.
Installation
1. CAUTION: The transfer case shift motor must be installed within 15 minutes of the application of silicone, or new sealant must be
applied. If possible, allow one hour before filling with lubricant to make sure the silicone sealant has properly cured.
Apply a thin coat of Black Non-Acid Cure Silicone Rubber E7TZ-19562-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESL-M4G273-A to the motor
housing base.
2. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
