Parking Brake and Actuation - Parking Brake Rear Cables Streetka 2003.5 (01/2003-07/2005)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the handbrake gaiter.

  1. Slacken the handbrake cable (one nut).
  1. Slacken the wheel nuts, raise the vehicle and remove the rear road wheels.

  1. Remove the drum and hub assemblies.

  1. Remove the hold down springs.

  1. Lift the shoes from the lower abutment brackets.
    1. Lift the shoes from the lower abutment brackets.
    1. Remove the lower pull off springs.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Take care not to damage the wheel cylinder dust covers when disengaging the shoe assemblies.
    Disengage the shoes from the wheel cylinders.
    1. Disengage the shoes from the wheel cylinders.
    1. Remove the upper pull off springs.

  1. Hold the wheel cylinder pistons in place with elastic bands.

  1. Detach the handbrake cables from the brake shoe operating levers.
    1. Move the brake shoe operating levers inwards.
    1. Disconnect the handbrake cables from the brake shoe operating levers.

  1. Detach the handbrake cables from the backplates.
    1. Depress the retaining clips.
    1. Pull out the cables.

  1. Detach the handbrake cables from the rear axle clips

  1. Detach the handbrake cables from the body clips.
    1. Detach the cables from body clips (three each side).
    1. Remove the clip retaining screws (one each side).

  1. Remove the front section of the exhaust system heat shield (four nuts).

  1. Remove the centre section of the exhaust system heat shield (four nuts).

  1. Disconnect the handbrake equaliser yoke.
    1. Disconnect the primary cable from the equaliser yoke.
    1. Unclip the rear cables from the retaining bracket.
    1. Detach the equaliser yoke from the rear cable.

Installation

  1. Refit the components in reverse order.

  1. Adjust the handbrake.
