  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Remove the air deflector.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Using a suitable blanking cap, cap the end of the hose from the power steering fluid reservoir.
    Using the special tool, disconnect the power steering gear to power steering fluid reservoir return hose.
    1. Insert the special tool into the spring lock coupling.
    1. Slide the special tool along the line to release the locking tangs.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
  1. Place the end of the power steering fluid cooler return line into a suitable container.
  1. Lower the vehicle until the wheels are clear of the floor to allow the steering wheel to be rotated from lock to lock.
  1. Remove the spark plugs.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:When filling the power steering fluid reservoir, make sure the power steering fluid is clean and not agitated prior to use. The fluid should be poured slowly into the reservoir to minimize the possibility of aeration. The fluid level should be checked with the fluid cold.
    Fill the power steering fluid reservoir to the MAX mark with Power Steering Fluid.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not continuously crank the engine for more than 30 seconds, as damage to the starter motor may result.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:When flushing the power steering system, make sure that the power steering fluid in the reservoir does not fall below the minimum mark.
    While cranking the engine for no more than 30 seconds turn the steering wheel from lock to lock.
  1. Wait 60 seconds to allow the starter motor to cool.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not continuously crank the engine for more than 30 seconds, as damage to the starter motor may result.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:When flushing the power steering system, make sure that the power steering fluid in the reservoir does not fall below the minimum mark.
    While cranking the engine for a further 30 seconds turn the steering wheel from lock to lock.
  1. When all the fluid has been used, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  1. Install the spark plugs.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the blanking cap and connect the power steering fluid reservoir return hose spring lock coupling to the power steering fluid cooler.

  1. Install the air deflector.

  1. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Fill and bleed the power steering system.
