Replacing Gearshift Lever on Streetka 20035: Removal & Installation

Manual Transmission/Transaxle External Controls - Gearshift Lever Streetka 2003.5 (01/2003-07/2005)
Disassembly and Assembly

Disassembly
  1. Detach the following parts.
    1. Gearshift Stabilizer
    1. Noise damping pad
    1. Gearshift rubber mounting

  1. Remove the gear lever.
    • Press the mounting sleeve locking lugs out of the housing cover using a screwdriver.
    • Pull out the gear lever.

  1. Carefully detach the gear lever mounting sleeve from the gear lever.

  1. Pull off the shift rod gaiter.
  1. Detach the housing cover.

Assembly
  1. Reassemble the gearshift mechanism.
    1. Insert the shift rod.
    1. Fit the housing cover.
    1. Push on the shift rod gaiter.
    1. Slide on the gearshift mounting.
    1. Slide the mounting sleeve onto the gear lever.
      NOTE:
      NOTE:Ensure that the gear lever sits properly in the shift rod.
    1. Fit the gear lever.
    1. Fit the noise damping pad.

  1. Fit the gearshift stabilizer.
