Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Standard preparatory measures.
    • Ask for the radio keycode.
    • Make a note of the preset radio stations.
    • Lay protective covers over the fenders.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Disconnect the battery negative lead.
    Drain the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Close off the refrigerant line and condenser with plugs.
    Detach the refrigerant lines at the condenser (one nut each).

  1. Remove the nuts from the radiator (two nuts, right-hand side shown).
    • Unclip and disconnect the plug for the HO2S sensor.
    • Raise the vehicle.

  1. Detach the cover (seven bolts, one nut).

  1. Disconnect and unclip the plugs.

  1. Detach the bracket for the power steering pipes.
    • Pull the pipes to the back.
    • Unhook the fan and take it out downwards.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Before unscrewing the radiator support, secure the radiator to prevent it falling down.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not take out the radiator crossmember.
    Remove the bolts from the radiator crossmember on both sides (four bolts, left-hand side shown).
    • Unhook the radiator at the bottom and pull the radiator crossmember towards the rear.

  1. Remove the condenser.
    • Remove the clamp bolts.
    • Unhook the condenser from the bracket (first slide the condenser to the right, then to the left).

Installation

    NOTE:Tightening torques:
    For additional information, refer to Specification - in this section.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Renew the O-rings and coat with refrigerant oil.
    Refit the components in the reverse order.
  1. Standard finishing operations.
    • Connect the battery negative lead.
    • Remove the protective covers.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Reprogramme the preset radio stations.
    • Reset the clock.
    • Road test the vehicle to collect data for the PCM.
  1. Evacuate and fill the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
  1. Check the operation of the air conditioning system.
