Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Standard preparatory measures.
    • Ask for the radio keycode.
    • Make a note of the preset radio stations.
    • Lay protective covers over the fenders.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Disconnect the battery negative lead.
    Drain the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
    • Raise the vehicle.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Close off the refrigerant line, condenser and dehydrator/accumulator with plugs.
    Detach the refrigerant line at the dehydrator.
    • Lower the vehicle.
  1. Remove the air cleaner housing.

  1. Remove the refrigerant lines.
    • Unclip the cable trunking.
    • Remove the transmission flange bolts.
    • Separate the refrigerant lines from the connector.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Close off the refrigerant line and condenser with plugs.
    Detach the refrigerant line at the condenser and remove.
    • Raise the vehicle.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Collect escaping refrigerant oil in a measuring cylinder and re-fill with the same quantity of new oil when filling the system.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Close off the openings on the compressor with plugs.
    Detach and remove the refrigerant line from the compressor.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Tightening torques:
    For additional information, refer to Specification - in this section.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Renew the O-rings and coat with refrigerant oil.
    Refit the components in the reverse order.
  1. Standard finishing operations
    • Connect the battery negative lead.
    • Remove the protective covers.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Reprogramme the preset radio stations.
    • Reset the clock.
    • Road test the vehicle to collect data for the PCM.
  1. Evacuate and fill the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
  1. Check the operation of the air conditioning system.
