Removal and Installation

Trim clip remover

Removal

  1. Remove the windshield wiper arms.
  1. Open the hood.

  1. Remove the lower cowl panel grille retaining screws on both sides (right-hand side shown).

  1. Remove the lower cowl panel grille on both sides (right-hand side shown).
    • Release the lower cowl panel grille retaining clips.

  1. Remove the upper cowl panel grille retaining screw covers on both sides (right-hand side shown).

  1. Remove the upper cowl panel grille on both sides (right-hand side shown).

  1. Remove the pollen filter weather shield.

  1. Remove the instrument panel retaining nuts.
  1. Remove the steering column.

  1. Remove the passenger air bag module.
    For additional information, refer to: Passenger Air Bag Module (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the instrument cluster.
    For additional information, refer to: Instrument Cluster (413-01 Instrument Cluster, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the front seats.
    For additional information, refer to: Front Seat (501-10 Seating, Removal and Installation).

  1. Remove the door opening weatherstrip.

  1. Detach the A-pillar trim panel on both sides.
    1. Detach the A-pillar trim panel from the top of the A-pillar.
    1. Detach the A-pillar trim panel from the instrument panel.

  1. Remove the A-pillar trim panel on both sides.
    • Disconnect the A-pillar trim panel retaining strap on both sides (if equipped).

  1. Using a trim clip remover, remove the in-vehicle crossbeam retaining bolt covers on both sides.

  1. Remove the fuse box cover.
    • Release the fuse box cover retaining clips.

  1. Detach the fuse box from the instrument panel.
    • Remove the fuse box retaining screws.

  1. Using a trim clip remover, detach the heated windshield and liftgate release switch panel from the instrument panel.

  1. Remove the heated windshield and liftgate release switch panel.
    • Disconnect the heated windshield and liftgate release switch electrical connectors.

  1. Detach the ashtray from the instrument panel.
    • Remove the ashtray retaining screws.

  1. Remove the ashtray.
    • Disconnect the cigar lighter electrical connector.

  1. Remove the clock (clock shown removed for clarity).
    1. Detach the clock from the instrument panel.
    1. Disconnect the clock electrical connector.

  1. Remove the glove compartment.
    • Press the sides of the glove compartment towards the center to release the glove compartment stops.

  1. Disconnect the passenger air bag deactivation (PAD) switch electrical connector (if equipped) (PAD switch shown removed for clarity).

  1. Remove the gearshift lever boot.
    1. Remove the gearshift lever knob.
    1. Detach the gearshift lever boot from the floor covering.

  1. Remove the parking brake control lever boot.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The bolt securing the safety belt lower anchor is held captive by a fibre washer. The bolt, spacer and fibre washer must remain on the safety belt lower anchor at all times when the safety belt is detached or removed.
    Detach the safety belt lower anchor on both sides.
    1. Remove the safety belt lower anchor retaining bolt.
    1. Detach the safety belt lower anchor from the floor pan.

  1. Detach the rear seat cushion from the rear floor pan.
    • Remove the rear seat cushion retaining screws.
  1. With the aid of another technician, remove the floor covering.

  1. Remove the instrument panel retaining bolts.

  1. Detach the instrument panel from the bulkhead to gain access to the instrument panel wiring harness.
    • Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness electrical connector.
    • Cut the cable ties at the rear of the instrument panel.
    • Remove the noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) insulation material.

  1. Remove the air deflector retaining screws (instrument panel shown removed for clarity).

  1. Detach the instrument panel wiring harness from the in-vehicle crossbeam (instrument panel shown removed for clarity).
    • Detach the two instrument panel wiring harness retainers.
    • Cut the cable ties.
  1. Remove the instrument panel.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
