Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the front door window glass. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not touch the adhesive surfaces as re-bonding will be impaired.
    Detach the watershield from the door panel.

  1. Cut through the sealant fixing the lock shield to the outer door skin.

  1. Detach the lock shield.
    • Drill out the rivet.

  1. Remove the lock shield.
    • Drill out the rivet.

  1. Disconnect the front door latch actuator rod.

  1. Remove the front door latch actuator rod
    • Unhook the rod from the exterior door handle.

  1. Disconnect the front door lock cylinder actuator rod from the latch.

  1. Detach the latch motor wiring loom.

  1. Remove the remote control handle retaining screw.

  1. Detach the remote control handle from the door.

  1. Detach the remote control handle cable from the door.

  1. Remove the front door latch retaining screws.

  1. Detach the front door latch and disconnect the electrical connector.

  1. Detach the remote control handle cable grommet.

  1. Remove the front door latch shield.

  1. Remove the front door latch motor.

  1. Detach the remote control handle cable from the latch.

  1. Disconnect the remote control handle cable from the latch.
    • Align the narrow part of the inner cable with the slot in the actuator lever and lift out.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure the latch motor positioner is correctly located on the remote control handle cable or the latch will not work.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
