Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Standard preparatory measures.
    • Note the radio keycode.
    • Make a note of the programmed radio stations.
    • Lay protective covers over the fenders.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Disconnect the battery negative lead.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:The wiper motor must be in the parked position.
    Detach the wiper arm.
    • Open the plastic cap and undo the nut two turns.
    • Fold back the wiper arm and release it from the taper by moving it sideways.
    • Unscrew the nut and remove the wiper arm.

  1. Remove the tailgate trim panel (one screw, eight clips).

  1. Remove the wiper motor.
    1. Disconnect the earth lead.
    1. Separate and unclip the connector.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Tightening torques: see "General Specifications".
    NOTE:
    NOTE:The wiper motor must be in the parked position.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:If concern is expressed about a jerky rear wiper, then a modified wiper arm made from new material can be installed to increase rigidity and minimise distortion.
    Refit the components in the reverse order.
  1. Standard finishing operations.
    • Connect the battery negative lead.
    • Remove the protective covers.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Reprogramme the preset radio stations.
    • Adjust the clock.
    • Carry out a road test to enable the PCM to collect data.
  1. Check operation of wipers.
