Vehicles built prior to November 4, 1985 may exhibit premature and/or unsightly wear of the plastic sleeve on the luggage compartment latch striker. A
new gray colored plastic sleeve was placed in production November 4, 1985 to fix this condition.
Dealers are requested to review all Taurus/Sables built prior to November 4, 1985 and if a black colored sleeve exists within the luggage compartment
striker assembly, the striker assembly is to be replaced with the new striker assembly (part number E6DZ-54404B42-B).
