Headrest - May Not Stay In Full Raised Position

SEAT - HEADREST - MAY NOT STAY IN FULL RAISED POSITION

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1986 SABLE
The front seat headrest may not stay in a full, raised position. This is may be caused by a low friction fit between the headrest shafts and the shaft sleeves
or loose sleeve caps. To correct this, first check for loose sleeve caps and tighten as outlined in Step A. If the condition still exists, install the new,
improved headrest guide rod sleeves (E6DZ-54610A16-A) as outlined below.
Step A.
While holding the headrest in the up posi-
tion, turn the sleeve caps clockwise until
snug. The caps and sleeves are threaded
and tightening the caps will increase fric-
tion on the headrest shafts.

Removal

Raise the headrest full up. Loosen and raise sleeve caps. Tape caps to hold out of the way and lower headrest. (Figure 2)
