ISSUE:
Wiper blades that do not completely clean the windshield or produce a "chattering" noise during operation may be caused by wiper blades
that do not maintain good surface contact with the windshield or by dirty wiper blades.
ACTION:
To correct this, clean the wiper blades and windshield. If cleaning does not correct the condition, install new wiper blades that have the
rubber element bonded to the backing strip which allows the blade to maintain better contact with the windshield. Refer to the following
service procedure.
1.
Turn on wiper switch to "low". Turn on key until wipers are about half-way up from Park position, then turn key off.
2.
Wash wiper blades and entire windshield with clean towels and undiluted Ford Ultra-Clear Windshield Washer Concentrate
(C9AZ-19550- AA) until all dirt is removed.
3.
Rinse with clean water while rubbing with clean towel.
4.
Check operation of wiper blades using windshield washer spray or hose.
5.
If "chattering" noise is still present after cleaning, replace wiper blade refills or blade assemblies as necessary. Refer to the
appropriate Car Shop Manual for removal and installation.
