FORD 1987 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1987 SABLE

Inoperative power windows, power door locks, and keyless entry system may be caused by pinched floor pan wiring (14A488) at the center body "B"
pillar. This may be caused by a locator not installed in its locator hole at the base of the "B" pillar.

To inspect for this condition, adjust the driver's seat to the full, forward position and use the following procedure:
(Refer to the Taurus/Sable Shop Manual, Section 45-03.)

1.

Remove the "B" pillar trim panels/scuff plate.

2.

Remove two staples and pull back the carpeting to expose the window regulator jumper wiring at the base of the "B" pillar.

3.

If the wiring is pinched by the seat belt anchor attaching bolt, loosen the bolt and pull the wiring out of the way. Retorque the bolt to 22-32 ft.lbs.
(30-43 N-m).

NOTE:

Repair damaged wiring if required.

4.

Install the wiring locator in its locator hole.

NOTE:

If the locator is damaged, tape the wire to the base of the "B" pillar using ordinary tape.

5.

Position the carpeting and install the "B" pillar trim panels/scuff plate.

6.

Check the fuse and replace if necessary.

7.

Check to make sure the power door locks, windows, and keyless entry each function properly.
