Check to see that the throttle plate is not stuck in the bore and that the throttle plate stop screw is setting on the rest pad with the throttle closed.
Correct any condition that will not allow the throttle to close to the stop set position.

Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

Proceed as follows:

Restart the engine.

Hold the idle speed at 2000 RPM for 30-45 seconds in Neutral.

After 3 to 5 minutes of running at idle, the engine speed should be at the CONTROLLED IDLE RPM in Neutral and Drive as specified in the
Hardstop Setting Specification Chart.

Check and adjust the throttle valve (TV) linkage. Refer to the appropriate model year Taurus/Sable Shop Manual, Section 17-25 for service
details.
