Reason for This Program
In some instances, your (Taurus or Sable) may hesitate or momentarily lack power during acceleration or sharp turns. This would most likely occur when
the fuel gauge shows that there is about a 1/4 tank of gas or less.
Why This Might Happen
Warm weather combined with certain types of gas may cause an over-pressurization of the gas tank. If this happens, the tank may expand so that the fuel
pump in the tank is lifted out of the gas.
What You Should Do If You Encounter This Condition
If you encounter this condition, contact your Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer. (Dealers have been notified of this service program and can assist you as
necessary.) Your dealer will modify the fuel system at no-charge to you.
Special Program Provision
If you paid to correct this condition prior to the receipt of this letter you may request a refund. For a refund take your paid repair order or parts purchase
receipt to your Ford dealer no later than December 31, 1989.
