Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

NOTE:  Whenever a condenser is replaced, it us also necessary to replace the suction accumulator/drier.

CAUTION:  If a condenser leak is suspected, the condenser must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle.

NOTE:

Radiator must be removed first. Refer to Cooling System / Radiator / Service and Repair / Removal and Installation.

REMOVAL

1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system at the service access gauge port valve located on the suction line. Observe all safety precautions.

Condenser Assembly

2. Disconnect the two refrigerant lines at the fittings on the RH side of the condenser.
3. Remove the four bolts retaining the condenser to the radiator support and remove the condenser from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Position the condenser assembly to the radiator support brackets. Install the retaining bolts.
2. Connect the refrigerant lines to the condenser assembly.

CAUTION:  Make sure the correct type O-rings are installed on the A/C fittings.

3. Leak test, evacuate, and charge the refrigerant system. Observe all safety precautions.
