Fuel Gauge Sender: Service and Repair
Installation
1. Clean fuel gauge sending unit mounting surface at fuel tank.
2. Apply a light coating of Long-Life Lubricant CIAZ-19590-BA or equivalent on a new seal ring and install seal ring and sending unit assembly.
Secure by rotating locking ring clockwise against stop. Ensure seal remains In place.
3. Support fuel tank under vehicle and connect fuel and vent lines and electrical connector.
4. Install fuel tank. Secure fuel tank band straps.
5. Install fuel filler tube. Fill tank with a minimum of 38 liters (10 gallons) of fuel.
6. Turn ignition switch to ON then OFF at three second intervals (with Fuel Pressure Gauge T80L-9974-B or equivalent), until fuel pressure builds to
270 kPa (30 psi).
7. Start vehicle, check fuel gauge operation and check for fuel leaks.
