TRANSAXLE - AXODE - INSUFFICIENT LUBE - OIL PUMP BLOCKED WITH GASKET MATERIAL - VEHICLES BUILT IN 1991 OR
BEFORE JANUARY 2, 1992

FORD:
1991-92 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 
1991-92 CONTINENTAL, SABLE

ISSUE:
Planetary gear wear or failure may be caused by a piece of oil pump gasket separating in the area which is not supported by the pump body. The gasket
particle could lodge in the rear lube circuit causing insufficient lubrication of the transmission.

ACTION:
The oil pump gasket has been revised to remove the gasket area which was not supported. Refer to the following procedure for proper gasket
identification.
