Campaign - Door Hinge Bolt Replacement

SUBJECT:
This bulletin announces an immediate delivery hold and owner notification program 95B66 affecting certain 1995 model year Taurus and Sable cars
produced from 3/24/95 through 3/29/95 at the Chicago assembly plant. There are an additional 30 vehicles built at Atlanta on 3/8/95 and 31 vehicles
built at Chicago on 3/14/95 included in this action. These vehicles may have been built with lower door hinges containing bolts which may fracture. The
upper hinge is not affected by this condition. Broken lower hinge bolts could result in doors which may be difficult to close.
Do NOT deliver any of the affected vehicles until they have been corrected.
TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Using hand tools only, replace the two bolts which join the two halves of each lower hinge (If power tools are used to remove the old bolts, the bolt head
could break).
NOTE:
Remove and replace one bolt at a time.
Torque the new bolts to 30 +/- 4.5 NM.
Discard the removed bolts.
The vehicle may be released from the delivery hold after all eight suspect bolts have been replaced.
